Employment Tribunals Cases reaches a new high
The number of outstanding employment tribunal cases has reached its highest level since the scrapping of tribunal fees on July 2017 and is likely to rise further according to an analysis by law firm GQ/Littler.
Its study, based on HM Courts and Tribunal Service records, found that there were 23,700 outstanding cases in the system from July to September 2018, representing a 77 per cent increase on the same period in 2017.
The research also found that tribunals received 36,900 single claims in the year ending September 2018, an 88 per cent increase from 19,600 the year before (CIPD, April 2019).
Employers should ensure they are up to date on their legal obligations to employees and ensure they treat employees fairly and consistently.
